The Hitchhikers by wakoski

i believe she feels guilty about hitchhikers and she wanted to share that as a poem. she begins the poem with describing the hot weather, mountains, and people that she sees on road. actually this is a ordinary scene while you travel however i think she wanted to emphasize this with the poem.

Ballad By Sonia Sanchez

I think Sonia Sanchez trying to give a love message to the readers with her poem. she begins her poem hopeless.
forgive me if i laugh
you are so sure of love
you are so young
and i too old to learn of love.
it's like a message that she cant believe to fall in love anymore. maybe its a poem that full with disappointments. on the other side she makes you think about love we believe in. its like questioning you saying with 'you are so sure of love' ?

Make Up On Empty Space

I think this poem trying to emphasize how people create on their own world around them. if we look closely there is a world with an empty space however we fill in this space according to how we wanted. The beginning of the poem starts with an explanation of a girl that the writer creates on her mind. then it goes into more detail including the world.

RE We Real Cool

This poem is written by Gwedolyn Brooks which symbolizes high school kids and how they live their life during this age. Most of the high school kids today don’t want to go to school and they try to escape from their responsibilities. On ‘we real cool’ the opening statement starts with supporting this idea. ‘we left school we lurk late’ I believe most of us did the similar laziness when we were young. And this is the only one example of it. Then it goes on to happiness of laziness. ‘We strike straight we sing sin.’ I think these are the times when we are the most happy.

Blackberry Eating by Galway Kinnell

I like this poem because of its richness of language which he illustrates over blackberry eating. For example in the line 12 "which I squeeze, squinch open, and splurge well." This line displays the physicality of life with the participation of touching, speaking and hearing. and i think he really does it well. also i believe i can tell that he feels attraction to blackberries such as with taste touch and appearance.

Rip Rap by Gary Snyder

this poem remind me the red wheelbarrow a little with ending 'all change, in thoughts, As well as things.' he trying to let readers to think about the poem that he wrote. also his beginning of poem starts with an idea of how we will change our minds after we read his poem and trying to gather people attention which is good way to do i guess. 'Lay down these words. Before your mind like rocks.placed solid, by hands.'

Howl

The Howl is different style of a poems that we have seen so far. The begining of poem is very powerful it starts with 'I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness' The rest of the section is a detailed description of these people specifically, who they were and what they did. it also reminds me of the one of the documentary 'zeitgeist' that i watched. its like trying the awake the people. first asks the question 'who' than 'what' and he questions what have been destroyed.
