RE We Real Cool

This poem is written by Gwedolyn Brooks which symbolizes high school kids and how they live their life during this age. Most of the high school kids today don’t want to go to school and they try to escape from their responsibilities.On ‘we real cool’ the opening statement starts with supporting this idea. ‘we left school we lurk late’ I believe most of us did the similar laziness when we were young. And this is the only one example of it. Then it goes on to happiness of laziness. ‘We strike straight we sing sin.’ I think these are the times when we are the most happy.

  1. Well, if you look closely at the imagery--esp. the last image--you'll see that the point here is not to represent happy teenagers relazing after HS graduation. Note carefully the detials of the lifestyle, the setting, the fact that the group "left" school, and where it all leads...
